Jerry Malinar, age 91, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake.
He was born in Zagreb, Croatia and had been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1968 moving from Cleveland.

He was an artist, painter and poet. He worked as a Fine Artist for American Greetings in Cleveland retiring in 1994. He helped to create the library at the Croatian Heritage Museum in Eastlake and partnered on the design of the Croatian Cultural Garden in Rockefeller Park.

He enjoyed photography, rock climbing, camping, fishing, skiing and taught his family to love the outdoors.
Jerry was a true patriot and a proud and passionate dual citizen of the United States and Croatia. He studied and advocated for his dream of Croatian Independence that came to fruition In 1991!

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Branka Malinar (nee Frigan), daughters, Drina Nikola (Terry Houk), Mirna Funkhouser, Vesna (Danny) Elbert, Nada (Jeff) Rogers, grandchildren, Andy Irwin (Jessica Reuteler), Nicolette Ironwing, Danny (Allissa) Elbert, Carissa (Andrew) Fedchenko, Amanda (Steve) Pierson, Kevin Kleinsmith, Morgan Rogers (Mitch Walls), Jessie Rogers (Jessie Edwards), Nicholas Funkhouser, Brendan Funkhouser, Justin Funkhouser, Madison Houk, Rose Houk, great-grandchildren, Eloise Reuteler Irwin, Roan Flaherty, Abigail Pierson and brother, Hrvoje Malinar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerolim and Vera (nee Jesensky) Malinar, brothers, Mladen Malinar, Boris Malinar and sister, Blanka Magdic.
